Teacher-parent conference

Today we went to school and had Lucy's teacher-parent conference.  Mr. G couldn't say enough great things about her!

She is reading at a DRA level of 12 (they are supposed to be at a level 3 at the start of 1st grade).  Her spelling is coming right along, and her math skills are good, too.  He loves to point out her artwork, probably because she adds so much detail to her pictures.  She is expected to write one-page stories and illustrate it for her books, and she routinely asks for more paper so she can expand her stories.  She can make correlations easily and group things into categories, and she LOVES graphing and charts.  That's my girl!

Mr. G also said they were studying butterflies in science, and they were naming body parts.  He asked if anyone knew what the tongue was called, and Lucy raised her hand and said it was the butterfly's proboscis.  Go, Lucy!

We had a brand-new, belt-drive garage door opener professionally installed today.  It is SO nice to have something work well for a change!  It's one of the perks of having 2 full-time incomes again.  :)
