O&Mathon 2014

We enjoyed another fun activity this weekend--the 8th annual O&Mathon!  It is a track-and-field type of day for kids who are visually impaired.  All activities are adapted and it's fun for both VI and non-VI kids!

We invited Nephew #2 to come with us again this year--his third time to join us!

Lucy did the 50 meter dash with her friend Meghan

soccer ball kick
sand jump

so fast!
catching a ride...
Lucy wanted to try the 50 meter dash again with the older kids
finish line!
3 legged race
1st place!

And a comparison--the 3-legged race from 3 years ago...

Still best friends...

t-ball hit

swinging...
Almost in!  They set up a beep box so she could aim for the sound
adapted bowling

the volunteer shook a rattle over the pins so she would know where to aim
check out his pitching arm!

She's getting pretty good, too!

One of the lawn games
Cap Metro came to give demonstrations on public transportation
Stop requested!
As soon as we got off the bus, she found a pole to climb.  Li'l monkey.
So we climbed on the rock wall next
He was proud of all his 1st place ribbons and medals!  We were served pizza and fruit before the awards ceremony.
I snapped this pic before we ate
She won 1st place in the timed obstacle course!

And 3rd place in the 50 meter dash!
J won 2nd place in the non-VI 50 meter dash
It was a fantastic day!  Many thanks to DARS and the local ISD O&M and VI departments for putting on such a wonderful event!
