Right after Thanksgiving, Lucy had her every-six-months eye check up. It was not an eye-drops visit (yay!) and the usual tests were done. Her glaucoma test came back at the high range of normal but the doctor isn't too concerned for now. Lucy is at the age where she wants to do things perfectly and it frustrated her to not be able to see the letters to read them perfectly. She did her best! Her eyes have changed slightly since 6 months ago...she can see 20/300 in her right eye (from 20/250) and 20/50 in her left eye (from 20/40)--these measurements are with best corrected lenses.
We discussed her wearing contact lenses, possibly as early as 5th grade. She would wear glasses with bifocals as "safety goggles" and contacts as well, and possibly be corrected to as well as 20/25 in her left eye! Dr. Onan thinks she will be able to drive just fine without restrictions (the restrictions being no night or highway driving) since her one good eye will be all that she needs! Also, she could probably wear "soft" contacts instead of "hard" contacts since she did NOT inherit my family's severe astigmatism. Double yay!!!
