Nephew #1 birthday party

It wasn't a birthday party as much as a fun celebration.  It's not every day that you turn 11!  He opted for a "day of adventure" in lieu of a present so that everyone could enjoy themselves.  I love how he thinks of others!  The original plan was to ride the Metro Rail downtown and have a lunch at a restaurant, but when we found out the Saturday line only ran in the evening, we opted to go to Austin Park instead.  None of us had ever gone, and we were pleasantly surprised at how many fun options there were!

First up, race cars.  Lucy "drove" for the first time in her life!

Next she wanted to do the spinning teacups.  I rode with her once and then she wanted to do it by herself.  Hurl.
We did the putt putt golf next
She was enamored with the pretend candy house by the water
Then she wanted to try the rock wall.  She has climbed to the top of these before, but the spacing was very far apart on this one and she couldn't quite make it

Then she wanted to try laser tag with her cousin.  I didn't go in but took pictures of her on the surveillance camera outside.  She's the little one all lit up carrying a laser gun

To complete the afternoon, we enjoyed a lovely conversation with a Mennonite family from Kansas
We ate our body weight in bad pizza for lunch and dinner (we were there for 6 hours!) and headed home.  A group shot
Me and my goober

And lastly, Lucy and one of her many "comfy spots" (she loves piling pillows together and snuggling into them)
