Fort Davis, Day 1

We had our annual trek out to West Texas over 4th of July week--it's such a nice time to go to escape to slightly cooler temperatures.  I drove out on Saturday with Andy and Lucy, and the rest of the family trickled in by Monday, so we had a group of 25 before it was all over!

The first full day we were there, we headed to the fort...

for some 1800's-style baseball...
It was open to everyone, not just kids!  Andy played the whole time, like an eager puppy that couldn't get enough ball-tossing.  He's a natural!

After the game was over, they enlisted our help to fold the 20 ft. tall garrison flag
And we got to see the cannon being fired!

Afterwards, we had some pretty tired kids!
And here is Lucy, doing her favorite pre-bed activity...listening to Skippyjon Jones
It was an awesome first day of activities!
