Mothers Day

This was a wonderful weekend, filled with many fun activities.  I hosted a small brunch for my dear in-laws on Saturday morning.  Here Lucy is playing Go Fish with her Oma:

Afterwards, we headed to see my parents and spent the afternoon searching for dewberries and wild plums.  My sister found enough plums to boil them down and use their juice for making jelly.  Yum!  I stayed inside, happily cooking a feast of roasted chicken, corn on the cob, and roasted veggies from the garden (carrots, green beans, squash).

In the morning, we headed to the nursing home to attend church with my Mema (Lucy's great-grandmother and namesake).  My cousins and their families were able to attend as well.  Here are some photos:

 Afterwards, we went out to my Grosspapa's house and picked dewberries.  We got about 2 gallons!  We also picked green beans, jalapenos, bell peppers, cucumbers, zucchini squash, carrots and onions.  We left feeling like we had been at a farmers market.  I think Lucy ate as many berries as she put in the bucket.

And last but not least, we went back into town to have lunch with my parents.  We enjoyed Mexican food although Lucy and her cousin opted to have a kiddie burger.  Here are my parents the day before they embark on their Alaskan cruise!
