Today was our first full day of STEM2U activities. We started the morning with a hearty Embassy Suites breakfast and then had the NFB STEM2U program kick-off before boarding the charter bus to Boston Museum of Science.

Once we arrived, the juniors and chaperones were separated and we didn't see Lucy again until the evening. We had numerous sessions on how to help our visually impaired kids be successful and inspired in STEM using different tools and techniques. The juniors were working on their "recycled racers" during this time and we had a recycled racer rally in the afternoon. Lucy was disappointed that their team didn't have the fastest one, but ended up forming a friendship with the apprentice (blind teen) of their group. Her name was Megan and she's a sweet 18-year-old from Utah. She told me that Lucy reminds her of herself at that age.

The shuttle didn't go back to the hotel until 6pm so we had an hour and a half to explore the museum with Lucy on our own. I think we could have spent 5 straight days here! There were so many things that I didn't get to see but am thankful that we did get some time here.
After the shuttle took us back, they gave us a $40 stipend for "dinner out on the town"!
