Boston, Day 7

Day 7 was dedicated to walking most of the Freedom Trail.  We had wanted to pick a day where the weather was pleasant, but each day brought something with it (snow, rain, wind, COLD, etc.). 

My boots had started leaking at this point--here's my white trash solution...lining my socks with umbrella bags under my boots!

Today's weather was clear but very windy and cold.  We took the wrong subway but ended up using the opportunity to see Trinity Church and Boston Public Library.

We got back on the correct subway line and started the Freedom Trail at Boston Common

Next on the trail was Old City Hall and the Boston Irish Famine memorial

Old South meeting house--citizens met here after the Boston Massacre and right before the Boston Tea Party

Faneuil Hall--site of the first Tea Meetings and "no taxation without representation"

The hall was a good place to stop for a few minutes and warm up--we were thoroughly chilled by this point!

Next was Union Oyster House, built in 1713, and is one of the oldest restaurants in the country

Old North Church--oldest church building in Boston. Lanterns were hung in the belfry arch "one if by land, two if by sea" as a signal from Revere that the British were about to march

 We decided to end our sightseeing for the day and find the subway back to the hotel.  We walked by the water for a while

after exiting the subway, she had enough energy to build an igloo

For dinner, we decided we had had enough walking and ordered a pizza to be delivered.  We found a local place that had been featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" called Italian Express Pizzeria.  It was delicious.  :)
